Promoting Overall Wellness through Chiropractic Care

Written By Hope Chiropractic on March 13, 2018

What exactly is wellness?

Fundamentally, wellness is to be in a state of good health, mind, and body. It’s also about staying healthy by preventing illness and actively pursuing a longer life.

In this sense, chiropractors help promote wellness by relieving imbalances that would otherwise cause or further aggravate existing irritation and inflammation.

Dr. Carolyn Wanken recognizes the role proper chiropractic care can play in your wellness. She hopes to help other people see just how beneficial regular adjustments can be.

How Does Chiropractic Care Influence Wellness?

Chiropractors study the alignment of the spine as well as the nervous system and the way it is all connected. This is also referred to as vertebral subluxations, or abnormal vertebrae movements.

The short explanation is that the nervous system is the only system that directly interacts with every single other system in the body. It is recognized that misalignment of the spine encourages inflammation of the body which then interferes with signal transmission.

When signals are being misfired as a result of misalignment, then the spine must be adjusted to restore the spine to its proper place, therefore reducing the inflammation, and allowing the nervous system to transmit as intended.

How Does Inflammation Reduction Influence Wellness?

Imagine the way your ankle swells when it is sprained. It becomes inflamed because it has been injured. And if you have ever been stung by a bee, the site where it stung probably developed a bump – also inflammation.

There are less obvious inflammation situations inside your body that frequently happen. People that have food allergies sometimes have to deal with intestinal inflammation. Others with back pain have a different kind of inflammation that they must address, too.

How is Back Pain a Part of This?

The obvious answer that most will see is that a chiropractor will crack your back, and it will feel better, but it’s more than that.

Harvard did a study on the connection between the mind and body in relation to back pain. They determined that mindful stress reduction worked to prevent and sustain prevention in back pain, even more than cognitive behavioral therapy or conventional medicine.

Including mindful stress reduction in a comprehensive chiropractic wellness care plan would be a fantastic way to implement a more holistic approach to promote your wellbeing.

Contact Hope Chiropractic so we can get your chiropractic wellness care plan on track and moving forward so you can experience good health and longevity.
